Hugo

This is a commissioned piece I did recently for Shadow Mountain press. This is a character from the book 'FableHaven'. His name is Hugo, and he's described as being made from mud rocks and clay. I decided to go more with rocks than mud simply because I felt the form of the cracked and chipped rocks was more interesting than a sort of muddy clay look (which would have honestly been much easier considering the sculpture is in actuality made from clay).

I'm still sad that I never got to see this one in person...he looks SO awesome! Although, part of the reason was because I wanted to see the glowing pumpkin-and your other piece has that. I'm excited for when you do Miream and hopefully you'll be able to give her a glowing sword! That would be flipping sweet.

Hot crud, that texture is awesome... He looks like he just uprooted himself from the ground after sitting in it for way too long. Nicely done!

Well done. I recently read the first three in the book series and i'd say you captured him pretty well. I'd be more interested to see the "battle ready Hugo" from book 3. But WELL DONE. And ALL of your other work is amazing.
